I've been a bit quiet of late mainly due to teaching commitments and illnesses! However, am glad to report that the snow here has all but melted and the trees are budding with the promise of new beginnings. Its strange to think the we have lived here for nearly four months now. I am used to our daily routine and the days seem to fly by!
Looking outside from where I am sat I can see the seafront with the huge luxury ferries parked at the water's edge. If I strain my eyes I can see the faint outline of the distant shore of Finland. It is rather quiet as its Friday evening and the weekend beckons. Soon. we shall leave to go shopping at Rimi, the nearest supermarket, and then go home to our little cat. Vaike is doing well and has transformed herself from a shy animal to a purring lap cat. She is a happy pet now and you should see her mad dashing about chasing the toy rat. She has however, taken to disrupting our sleep. We tend to put her in the kitchen at night as her sleeping patterns can be quite random. With us being proverbial night owls we tend to go to bed rather late and while we are getting ready for bed she retires to the kitchen, her sleeping pad. This is all good behaviour but the problem lies in the early hours of the morning when she starts to mew and scratch the door in order to be let in to our bedroom. This is usually at 6 in the morning when her relentless miaows wake us up! Ignoring her does not help as she is a rather stubborn creature. We tend to give in after a while and in she comes and jumps up on the bed and greets us with chirrups and loud purring. We end up a bit bleary eyed as a result of this but have not found a solution yet. So, anyone with ideas is welcome to share them.
So, the volcanic ash from Iceland has reached us and has turned the sea and skies grey so I am longing for an escape to somewhere sunny and blue. Hmm, the Greek islands or Barcelona would be a good idea.
How is April treating everyone?
